Bünzen has an area, , of 5.77 square kilometres (2.2 sq mi). Of this area, 3.51 km² (1.4 sq mi) or 60.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.64 km² (0.633207540091757 sq mi) or 28.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.58 km² (0.22393925198367 sq mi) or 10.1% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.02 km² (4.9 acre) or 0.3% is either rivers or lakes and 0.02 km² (4.9 acre) or 0.3% is unproductive land.

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 5.0% and transportation infrastructure made up 3.8%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 52.3% is used for growing crops and 8.3% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is in rivers and streams.
