Built in 1959 at the Davie Shipyards
in Levis, QC, the medium icebreaker served with the Department of Transport Marine Service and then the Canadian Coast Guard
until 1986. Sold to private interest in Newfoundland
, the ship sat idle after 2001 and was resold in 2009 to GTX Technology Canada Limited and renamed Polar Prince. Rebuilt, the icebreaker is now plying the waters of the Arctic Ocean
