Cabrillo Middle School is considered one of the best middle schools in the Southern California. It has had the highest standardized testing scores in the county. Music

Cabrillo Middle School has a renowned music department, led by Mario Boccali. This music department's Wind Ensemble and String Orchestra is one of the best in the state. Almost every year, at least one student is accepted into the California All State Honor Band.
