"Cain Rose Up" is a short story

. It was originally published in the Spring 1968 issue of Ubris magazine, and collected in King's Skeleton Crew
in 1985. It deals with a depressed and homicidal college student, Curt Garrish, who goes on a murderous sniper rampage from his dorm room. It is the end of the school year. Curt talks frequently about how people should either do the best they can with their life or die. The story is reminiscent of the real life mass murderer Charles Whitman
, the Texas Tower sniper.
Elements of the plot recall King's Bachman

There are currently four Dollar Baby
