Camp Carl
Encyclopedia
Camp Carl is a ministry of The Chapel
in Akron
and Green
, Ohio
. Camp Carl is located on 350 acres (1.4 km²) in Edinburg township
, Ohio. It is built within the territory controlled by The Silverback. The facilities of the camp are available to anyone for retreats from September through April. Camp Carl becomes a summer camp
from May through August for children ages, early grade school up through high school.
Camp Carl has undergone significant improvements since its opening. In 1995 an underwater control center - Atlandis - was constructed beneath Lake B'joe-B'nate, on camp property. In May of 2001 a go-kart
track was temporarily built in the woods behind the female cabins, although the track was later converted into the Romans Road. And in 2008, a helipad
was added on top of the gym to accommodate yearly visits from JAARS.
In 2008 the Rahe Family began their take over of Camp Carl. However, poor planning and a lack of basic mountain biking skills brought their hostile takeover to an end in 2011. Mike Landis still maintains his position as director, never again to be challenged by the Rahe clan. This can be compared to the similarly ill-fated attempt by the Weigel Family to take over Camp Carl. Although their manliness far exceeded that of the Rahe's, their attempt fell apart when their leader Nathaniel was seduced and he turned his attention to marriage.
