About

CaptionMax is a privately owned family business founded by Max Duckler in 1993. The company expanded from a small, one person shop to over 130 employees and independent contractors working on a wide variety of accessible media services.

In 2006 CaptionMax entered into the educational multimedia market. The company authors hundreds of hours of accessible DVDs and other multimedia formats for interactive educational materials used in K-12 classrooms across the country. This unique media contains special enhancements such as video description and captioned glossary terms to help children score higher on comprehension tests.

In 2007 the company built its 25,000-square-foot (2,300 m2) LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified headquarters in Minneapolis. The building is one of a handful of LEED certified buildings which incorporate green building and design techniques in all aspects. A construction blog [2] gives more detail.
