The driver can finish the rental in any available public parking space within the business area or at one of the specially marked car2go spaces. Charges are based on minutes used and include fuel, insurance, parking and maintenance. There is a one-time registration fee of $35.
End of April 2011, car2go announced that Vancouver, British Columbia, is the first Canadian city selected to launch its mobility service. A newly created company, car2go Canada Ltd., a subsidiary of Daimler North America Corporation, will also be located in Vancouver. A network of 225 fuel-efficient, low-emission smart “car2go edition” vehicles will be available to Vancouver car2go members as of June 2011. The Vancouver car2go office is located at 45 Water Street in the Gastown area of downtown Vancouver.

Starting on November 24, 2011, Amsterdam will become the fifth city with a car2go service globally, and the first in Europe with an all-electric fleet. The fleet of 300 Smart fortwo EDs be available for on-demand mobility, without the requirement of returning them to a fixed rental station. These car2go vehicles and other electric cars in Amsterdam will have access to more than 250 charging stations in the city area. The number is expected to increase significantly up to 1,000 by end of 2012. Rates are 29 Euro cents (US$0.41) per minute; €12.90 (US$18.23) per hour and a daily rate (24 hours) of €39 Euro (US$55.10). If car2go is used for stop-overs, a special parking rate of 9 cents (US$0.13) per minute (€5.40 (US$7.63) per hour) will be calculated. Insurance, taxes, electricity and parking costs are fully included in this price.
