Running of the College

In 1975 Strathclyde Region became the administering authority of the college.

In 1993 the funding of further education colleges passed from local government to central government and the responsibility for Cardonald College devolved to a Board of Management.http://www.theglasgowstory.com/image.php?inum=TGSA05226

Facilities

The college has a lot of facilities for students to use including a cafeteria, a gym, childcare facilities, library, access to computers and a faith room.

The library has over 20,000 books, easy to use computerised catalogue, free internet access, photocopying, newspapers and quiet study areas. The library opens before classes begin in the morning and is open late several nights per week.

The main food hall is located on the ground floor of the campus and seats up to 270 people.

This service offers students and staff a wide range of hot and cold food with various healthy options. You will find homemade soup, home baking, main meals, deli-bar with excellent range of salads, baked potatoes etc. There is also a breakfast service offering hot rolls or a plated breakfast.

In addition to the main food hall there is also a cafe and shop located in the main foyer on the ground floor. The cafe offers a wide range of pre-packed sandwiches rolls and baguettes, homemade soup, home baking and hot pastries.

Transport links

The colleges' main campus, Mosspark Drive is easily accessible by train, bus or underground. The nearest train station to the college is Corkerhill rail station which is only an 8 minute journey from Glasgow Central Station or a 9 minute journey from Paisley Canal Street. Trains depart at 8 mintues and 38 minutes past the hour from Glasgow Central and 1 minute and 31 minutes past from Paisley Canal. For further information please visit the National Rail website. Alternatively if the underground is an easier option for you, alight at Govan or Cessnock for bus links to the college.
