Carl Eduard Adolph Gerstaecker (30 August, 1828, Berlin
- 20 June, 1895, Greifswald
) was a German
zoologist and entomologist. After studying medicine and natural sciences in Berlin he was, from 1857 to 1876, Curator of the Zoological Museum of Humboldt University. In 1874 he became a professor for Zoology at the University of Berlin, and 1876 a professor of Zoology at the University of Greifswald. In 1894 he became a lecturer at the Agricultural Institute of Berlin
now a faculty of the university.
