Carly grew up in a small town in Colorado, then headed to the University of Missouri School of Journalism in Columbia, Missouri. While in school, she worked as a reporter for NBC affiliate KOMU-TV
. There, she also shot and edited video, produced webcasts, and anchored. Carly became the face of mtvU after getting discovered from an audition video she made while teaching English in Seoul, South Korea.
