It was discovered that Carrie was carrying triplets and the increasingly shady Declan bought the bar across the road from the hospital to create an income for the family. Carrie was disappointed when good friend Meredith decided to leave but at the leaving party, Carries water broke. Steve helped his step mother give birth to triplets. They were named Finbar, Frank and Sarah. Sarah developed health problems and Carrie became very distressed. Steve helped her through it while Declan worked at the bar. Declan's dodgy past came back to haunt him however when he started getting threats about a bank robbery he did. He was sent to jail leaving Carrie with no one to turn to but Steve. Steve developed romantic feelings towards Carrie but she did not return them at first. Carrie started to get threats from one of Declan's associates and she decided to leave Ferndale to live with her sister in Australia. At Gina

's wedding, Carrie told Steve she loved him too and the two shared a kiss. Carrie departed to Australia the next day.
