Following his career as a player, Sembera scouted for the Major League Scouting Bureau and with the Seattle Mariners
for eleven years. While working for the Mariners in 1998, Sembera is reported to have pushed for Seattle to get Freddy García
, Carlos Guillén
, and John Halama
from the Astros in the deal that sent Randy Johnson
to Houston.
Sembera died in Shiner, Texas
, at the age of 63.
