Cartridge World operates on a franchise system and doesn't require store operators to have any prior technical skills. In the US, it provides as much as 80-hours of training to new franchisees before they open their stores. Shops are typically set up in suburbs and inner-city locations close to small businesses and consumers that would prize proximity and convenience.
In the UK, Cartridge World has the largest financial percentage
of the refilling industry. The first British store opened in February 2001, in Harrogate. There are now over 250 stores in the UK.
In Germany, in 2005 the company founded its subsidiary Cartridge World Deutschland GmbH. Until today it has 52 shops and franchise partners in 13 federal states. The headquarters is situated in Hattingen (Northrhine Westfalia, Germany).
