The station consists of four platforms, with two in an island format
. Platforms 2 and 3 (island platform in the centre) house the main station building, constructed of red brick building and containing an enclosed waiting area, ticket facilities and toilets. Smaller red brick buildings are located on platforms 1 and 4. The station itself is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register

ticket vending machines are located at the entrance to the island platform and platform 1, with small coin-only Metcard ticket vending machines located at the entrance to platform 4 and in the station's underpass. The underpass is situated at the Up end of the station, which link's all platforms, and contains a small take away food shop.
