chakia is sub divisional headquarter town and also block headquarter. During the British rule the champaran sugar mill was founded in 1905, right now the sugar factory is closed since 1995.

Kesaria Stupa This Buddhist stupa is the largest in the world, with a height of 104 ft. Kesaria is located at a distance of 110 km from Patna, in the Champaran (east) district of Bihar. You can reach here by flying to Patna, & driving for another 3–4 hours from there. Alternatively, you can take a direct train "SaptKranti Express" to Chakia, from Delhi\New Delhi, & drive a 30 minutes further.
