Challenge is the name of organisational publications of two separate known communist groups.
The first is a magazine
periodical produced by the British Young Communist League
, the youth wing of the Communist Party of Britain
. The first issue came out in March 1935. The aim of the journal is, according to the YCL, to cover
The other "Challenge" is the bi-weekly newspaper
of the Progressive Labor Party
, a transnational
communist party
based primarily in the United States
(but also having several smaller branches in various places in Latin
and South America
, and laying claim to several very small cells in other select places around the world). Due to its rather large Spanish language
readership, the PLP also produces parallel issues in Spanish (Desafio).
Neither publication is to be confused with the historical Challenge
which was, in its day, a primary publication of the Young People's Socialist League
back when it was associated with the Socialist Party of America
(YPSL is now politically and organisationally separate from the SPA).
