aged four years or older. From 2011, the race will be sponsored by the online sportsbook StanJames.com. It is run at Haydock Park
over a distance of about 2 miles and 110 yards (3,319 metres), and during its running there are nine hurdles to be jumped. The race is scheduled to take place each year in January.

, and the final race of the series before the 2011 Champion Hurdle
at the Cheltenham Festival

The 1988 edition was abandoned because of snow.
It was cancelled in 1991 because of frost.
