Chandausi is a city and a municipal board in Bhimnagar district
in the state of Uttar Pradesh

The original name of the city was "Chaand Si", meaning "Moon Like" (in Indian poetry the moon is considered to be beautiful). It is said that the city was founded by Valmiki
and he gave the name "Chaand Si". The people speak Hindi.
Chandausi is known for mint oil, which has become the city's main trade. The mint plant (Mentha piperata) is cultivated on a large scale. After extracting essential oils from the plant through distillation, the products are exported.
The city is also known for Ghee and traditional Ganesh chaurthi utsava. It is also known for the automatically moving statues' presentation, which is led by the representatives of Ganesha i.e. "Elephants", at the time of Ganesh Chaturthi, which is rare. A large crowd attends this festival in Chandausi.
Chandausi was under British India and some parts were owned by Rani Ramkali a minor landlady.
Chandausi is also known for its Gajak which is generally prepared in the winter season. Gajak is prepared with sesame seeds and jaggery
(or cane sugar) with a method of preparation which is time consuming. It takes about 10–15 hours to prepare 5–8 kilograms of Gajak. The dough is hammered until all the sesame seeds break down and release their oils into the dough.
The city has a 1925 Zonal Railway Training Institute, Ministry of railways, Govt of India which caters to Training needs of 8 divisions of Northern and North-Central Railways.
Chandausi is also called Mini Vrindavan. It has an average elevation of 284 metres (603 feet). There are approximately 300 temples in Chandausi.
The Indian Railway Training Institute (ZRTI), Ministry of railways, Govt of India is the oldest (and North India's only) railway training Institute, where group c railway employees like Driver, Guard, Ticket Checker, Station Master, Traffic Inspector, Commercial Inspector, JE (signal & Telecom) etc. are trained for initial, promotional and refresher courses. Applicants pass All India Railway Examinations to get admission into the institute. ZRTI is headed by a senior civil services officer.
In education section, total literates in Chandausi city are 72,515 of which 40,323 are males while 32,192 are females. Average literacy rate of Chandausi city is 72.63 percent of which male and female literacy was 76.79 and 68.02 percent.
Total children (0-6) in Chandausi city are 14,417 as per figure from Census India report on 2011. There were 7,730 boys while 6,687 are girls. Child sex ratio of girls is 865 per 1000 boys.
A huge crowd worships in this temple every Tuesday and Saturday as these days are the days of Lord Hanuman. The temple has idols of Shri Ram parivar, Shri krishna Parivar, Shiv Parivar, Goddess Durga, Lord Bhero ji, Lord Sai Baba etc. It is situated on a small hill (Teela) and has a cave under the Hanuman ji statue. This cave runs through a large area of the city.
The temple is far from the main city so it has a quiet atmosphere. On the top of the main entry gate to the temple, there is the Ram Darbar which is said to be guarding the temple and its priests as there is no security around. A Primary school named 'Rambagh Bal Vidhyalaya' is taken care of by the same trust.

Temples in Chandausi
Chandausi has at least one temple in every area:- Bade Hanuman ji mandir is one of the oldest and most famous temples of the city. It is situated at Hanumanghari near Sita Ashram playground. It is the temple of Hanuman ji and is 400 years old and the speciality is that it fulfils the wishes of the worshippers. It is said that when Lord Hanuman ji took incarnation (Prakat hue the), the place was marked by his idol and hence this temple contains that idol of Lord Hanuman.

- Rambagh Dham is one of the grand temples in the city. It is situated at Rambagh Road near Kaithal village. It is dedicated to 'Nau Devis' (Nine Divine Goddess originated from Goddess Parvati). The main idol in the temple is of Maa Durga, the other eight Devis along with them. It has some divisions inside it which holds idols like Radha Krishna Ji, Hanuman Ji, Jwala Ji etc. Functions and competitions are organised within the temple throughout the year, one of which is the well known "Boogie-Woogie". In the Navdurga festival, the temple is decorated with a priceless dedication.

- Kunj Bihari Temple situated just opposite to Rambagh Dham is an ancient Kunj Bihari Ji temple with a 200 years old shivalaya as part of the temple complex
- Lord Venugopal Ji Temple is situated at Rambagh Road and is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha. It is a very old temple. There is no trust managing the temple but is looked after by the priest and his family members on their own. Many functions are organised here at 'Krishna Janmashtami' (birthday of Lord Krishna).
- Braham Dev Ji Temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and Goddess Radha. It is situated in Braham Bazar near BabuRam Halwai, opposite Kallu Halwai. It has the idols of Shiv family, Maa Kaali, Hanuman Ji etc.
- Lord Vishnu Temple has Lords Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi Ji (in standing position). It is situated on the way to Kaithal Gate.
- Goddess Saraswati Temple is dedicated to Maa Saraswati (Goddess of Knowledge)and is situated at Fountain Chowk.
- Lord Shani Temple is dedicated to Lord Shani and built in black because the colour of Lord Shani is black. It is situated at Sita Ashram Road opposite to R.R.K.School.
- Lord Sai Temple is dedicated to Lord Sai situated at Shashtri Nagar, Moradabad Road. It is managed by Shirdi Sai Baba Trust.
- Temple devi mata is in ambypuram colony of Chandausi. It is very old and famous temple.
- "Dauji Maharaj Temple" is near Vengopalji Temple. It is believed that Shesnaag, the god of snakes.
- Boorhi Mata Temple is in Boorhi Mata Street of Chandausi. It is a very old and famous temple.
- Bara Mahadev Temple is a temple of Lord Shiva situated between Khurja Gate and Jawahar Road
- Shri Satya Narayan Templeis temple of Bhagwan Vishnu and Laxmi situated at Station Road
