, Ghaibiani, Marfani, Choliyani, Bangulani, Misrani, Alhiyarzai, Mirwani, Bhundani, mirzani, Sumarani, are known in Sindh and in Punjab. In Rahim Yar Khan the following clans are especially common: Hydrani, Sahb Khanani, Laalwani, Paisani, and Mubarkani. The name "Chandio" is derived from a tribal elder named "Chand" as given to his descendents.

This village at present is known as Kotla Ahmed Khan near Dera Ghazi Khan
, and the grave of this brave Sardar is in the boundary wall of Pir Shakhi Sarwar near D.G Khan. The group migrated from Dera Ghazi Khan to mountains of Khirther. That was the region where this family lived, called Chandka region, which is in the Qambar-Shahdadkot, Larkana

districts. The family later spread throughout the Sindh and Punjab region. The Chandio tribe is now spread out over Pakistan with a concentration in Sindh.

The origins of the Chandio tribe began with a man known as Aurdghani Kurd Baloch, who migrated from Kurdistan. He had 14 sons, including one named Chand. Chand had three sons, each of whom had his own children. One of the sons called his children Leghari, but the other two chose Chand's name for their children. These were the namesakes of the famous Chandio.
This was the first Baloch tribe who left the mountains of Balochistan especially from Harboe (Kalat) and Dhadar (Bolan) due to a Baloch genocide

The Grand son of Sardar Harian Khan who after completing education from Iraq accompanied and headed the tribe was Sardar Suleman Khan Chandio and famously being known as Sardar Sreman Khan Chandio who after the request of the Army Chief of Sindh Doulah Darya Khan Lashari migrated from Dera Ghazi Khan to mountains of Khirther. That region, where this family lived, was called the Chandka region, which is in the Qambar-Shahdadkot & Larkana and dadu districts. According to an old Balochi Rhyme, one brother of Chief Sardar Sareman Khan, namely Sardar Hamal Khan Chandio, resided in their oldest based village called Chandka, but nowadays known as Rojhan Mazari (old Chandka). The Last Sardar of old Chandka was Mir Maarak Khan Chandio (Mubarak Khan), lost from Chief Mazari Sardar Mir Shahali Khan, as unfortunately, Main Chandio's Comonders died in this war. The remaining Chandio tribe migrated, from their homeland, to the area of Bahawal pur State "Bhong" which also later became part of the Mazari state. Now this area was gifted to the Raees of Bhong's by the Mazari Chiefs. At that time, Sardar Mir Hyder Khan Chandio was Comonder of Chandio tribe. The Chandio tribe is now spread out over Pakistan, with a concentration in Sindh

Sir Nawab Ghaibi Khan Chandio was also awarded the title of Nawab
by Britishers, in the late 19s, by Lord Mountbatten. The British government later "disabled" the status of the Chandka region.
