Mathematics
Mathematics is the study of quantity, space, structure, and change. Mathematicians seek out patterns and formulate new conjectures. Mathematicians resolve the truth or falsity of conjectures by mathematical proofs, which are arguments sufficient to convince other mathematicians of their validity...

Education and work
Charles Epstein was an undergraduate in mathematics at MIT and graduate student at the Courant Institute, NYU, where he received his PhD. He did a postdoc with William Thurston before moving to the University of Pennsylvania, where he has been since. He is currently Thomas A. Scott Professor of MathematicsThomas A.
