Career

Schomberg entered the navy on 16 May 1829 and was promoted to lieutenant on 28 June 1838. He served in this rank aboard several ships in the Mediterranean, joining on 13 July 1838, and serving under Captain John Lawrence. He moved to Captain Horatio Thomas Austin

Schomberg was promoted to commander on 10 February 1844 and was appointed second in command of , under the command of Captain Henry John Leeke

He had no further active service, and was promoted to rear-admiral on the retired list on 24 May 1867, and then vice-admiral on the retired list on 29 May 1873. Charles Schomberg died at Holyhead
