and received his black belt at the age of 20. In 1986, Gracie relocated to Salvador Bahia to promote and teach Gracie jiu-jitsu. He established the Bahia Jiu-Jitsu Federation in 1993, and is currently president. Gracie was promoted to 5th degree black belt in May 1999. He made his MMA debut with a win over Assuerio Silva
. Gracie is currently a 6th degree black belt and operates a school in Tracy, California
, with affiliate schools throughout California and Nevada

He is the son of Jiu-Jitsu Grandmaster Robson Gracie
and the older brother of Renzo Gracie
, Ralph Gracie
, and the late Ryan Gracie
. He is also the older brother of Flavia Gracie and uncle of Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and competitor Kyra Gracie-Guimaraes
.
In 2002, Gracie co-wrote a book on Brazilian jiu-jitsu with his cousin Royce Gracie
entitled "Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Self Defense Techniques".
