 to the Thirty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1859-March 3, 1861), but was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1860 to the following Congress. He was a Presidential Elector in 1864. Afterwards, he became a delegate to the Union National Convention at Philadelphia in 1866 and resumed his law practice. He died in Hudson, New York, on January 30, 1899 and was interred in Kinderhook Cemetery
