Jean-Luc Godard is a French-Swiss film director, screenwriter and film critic. He is often identified with the 1960s French film movement, French Nouvelle Vague, or "New Wave"....

. It is shot entirely in or from Godard's hotel room, in which Belmondo's Jules gives Collette's Charlotte a seemingly endless and self-indulgent tirade on her faults and his tribulations. Belmondo's voice is in fact dubbed by Godard.

It is a homage to Jean Cocteau's successful one-act play Le Bel Indifférent, where the roles are opposite.

It can now be seen on the Criterion and Optimum home video releases of Breathless.
