Charlottesville City Public Schools is the branch of the government of the City of Charlottesville, Virginia
responsible for operating the Charlottesville public school system. Like all public school systems in the state, it is legally termed a school division
instead of a "school district" because it is a division of its associated local government, and has no independent taxing authority. The current superintendent is Dr. Rosa Atkins.
