 team. The Steam were founded in 2002. The Steam play in the Deep South Football League (March through May) or DSFL and the Gridiron Developmental Football League or GDFL (June through September). The Steam were formerly members of the United South Football League or USFL The Steam currently play their home games at Lookout Valley High School in southern Chattanooga.

Team history

The name "Chattanooga Steam" was made because the original owners of the ball club wanted their team to be Chattanooga's team. Due to the railroad history of the city, they felt that a train should be incorporated, and simply moved the "S" from "Chattanooga's" and added it to "team". The result was the Chattanooga Steam.

The Steam have been ranked by the Minor League Football News Top 25 in 2008. On April 6, 2008, they received their highest ranking at #11 in the United States. Again, on May 31, 2009, the Steam were ranked #11 in the United States.

In 2008, the Steam played an independent schedule and finished the year with a record of 16-5.

During the 2009 DSFL season, the Steam finished 10-0 in the regular season. On June 13, 2009, the Steam defeated the Georgia Buccaneers 22-8 to win the DSFL championship game in Atlanta, Georgia

. Interim Head Coach Alan "Moon" Lowrance led the team to a record of 10-1 in the DSFL. The Steam lost in the DSFL championship game to the Gainesville Gladiators 23-14. The team opted not to participate in the USFL that season.

Coach Poole will return to the Steam for the 2011 season.

Players age range from 18 to mid 40s.
