Professional boxing career
Holt made his professional debut in January of 2002 at the age of 28. His first bout resulted in a points win against 12-130 Donnie Penelton. Holt stayed unbeaten through four fights, losing for the first time to 10-0 Giovanni Alvarez of Sweden. After three more wins Holt was pitted against 31-5 Kenny Ellis, who gave him his second loss. In September 2004 Holt brought a record of 9-3 into a bout with Kwan Manassah, billed as a contest for the Minnesota state middleweight title.
