 in the 1500 m freestyle. He was the second American swimmer to go below the 15 minute mark on the 1500m and held the American Record for 4 years. He attended the University of Michigan where he was a member of the varsity team from 1997 to 2001. Both at Michigan and as a post graduate Chris swam under legendary coach Jon Urbanchek from 1997 to 2004. He still holds the NCAA and American records in the 1650 yard freestyle.
