 provided the oppoistion. A rout took place on that occasion as Newtown won the game by 3-22 to 1-12.

Sarsfield's proved that this defeat was only a temporary set-back as the club reached a third successive county final in 2010. Glen Rovers

 provided the opposition and a close game developed. McCarthy gave an inspirational performance, scoring eight points and collecting the man of the match award, as Sarsfield's won the game by 1-17 to 0-18. It was also a second county championship title for McCarthy.
