History
Clayton Middle School was built in 1991. When it opened the school had 600 students enrolled. By 2001, the number of students had nearly doubled to 1150 students, and had 18 mobile units on campus. In fall of 2001, Riverwood Middle School opened, and the students were divided between the schools. Each school had around 650 students.
