. The station operates the HU-25D Guardian and HC-144 Ocean Sentry maritime patrol aircraft and the MH-65C Dolphin helicopter.

In 1965, Coast Guard Air Station Miami transferred its aircraft and operations from its Dinner Key installation that dated to 1932 to a portion of the former Naval Air Station Miami / Marine Corps Air Station Miami facilities at the Opa-locka Airport, re-establishing CGAS Miami on site in one of the former Navy/Marine Corps hangars. Although the site has seen extensive additional military construction over the years, CGAS Miami continues to operate on this site with both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.
