Colin Cheong

Colin Cheong is a Singaporean writer, teacher and former journalist.
Colin Cheong Wye Mun (Zhang Weimin) was born in Singapore in 1965.

Colin Cheong is one of Singapore most prolific contemporary writers. He has written or edited nearly 30 books, four of which have won national awards. He won the Singapore Literature Prize in 1996 for his travel diary-like novel, Tangerine.
At the age of 15, he interned at the now defunct newspaper, New Nation, and contributed to army magazine, Pioneer, during his National Service days. From secondary 3 till the year before he graduated from university, he was a photographer and stage actor - experiences which had significant influence on his writing.
His other interests include being a bass guitarist for a local garage band specialising in Indian blangra music and an avid shooter of air rifles at firing ranges.
He is now teaching English at Hwa Chong Junior College
and compiles books for corporate clients on his days off.
