Playing career

McDyer played as a centre half-Forward. He brought an element of tactics to the forward line. The Glenties man played with the great Cavan team which won the All-Ireland Final in Polo Grounds, New York in 1947. This made him the first Donegal man to win a All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
