The requiem mass held at his funeral at St. Davids Cathedral on the 6th May, 2009 is known to be the first Roman Catholic Mass to be celebrated there since the Reformation (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/obituaries/article6268640.ece).

He married Augusta Victoria Correa Larrain in 1965. They had two children:
