They were very active in the 70s
and 80s
. Their most important attack was the assassination of Socialist Senator Enrique Casas in 1984, an attack that was rejected by all the political spectrum including ETA
, which at the time, rejected violence against politicians.
Soon after, one of the few operating CAA commandos was ambushed by the Guardia Civil at the bay of Pasaia
, killing four - all but one. That was in practical terms the end of CAA, whose members joined ETA.
