, his attempt at this was in writing "City Love", but to him, the song didn't achieve the truth of the blues. He then wrote as a "sequel" the song "Covered in Rain", which takes its name from "City Love"'s bridge. "Come Back to Bed" was Mayer's next attempt at achieving this piece. Mayer has stated it came closer to the mark, but still didn't achieve what he was hoping for. After Continuum's release, Mayer announced that he'd finally written the song he'd been trying to write all these years, also adding that "City Love" and "Come Back to Bed" were his early attempts at "writing 'Gravity'".
