 and is a popular destination for summer vacationers. It is also well-known for the excellent birdwatching

 in the spring. There is also a Roy Bechtol designed 18-hole golf course open to the public called Concan Country Club or the Golf Club at Concan.

Several outfitters in the area haul swimmers and tubers up the Frio River to designated drop off points and then pick them up later downstream. One of the more popular and visible shuttles is the "Cool Bus" of Andy's on River Road. The bus is a converted school bus that yearly hauls families up river for a cool trip downstream in the hot Texas Summer. Frio is the Spanish word for cold. The river is aptly named as it flows from underground springs and has been a place for travelers and visitors to cool off and rest for hundreds of years.

There are several live music venues in the area including the House Pasture Cattle Company with dining and performers such Willie Nelson, Tanya Tucker, George Jones, Kevin Fowler, Gary P. Nunn, Wade Bowen, Kyle Park, Charlie Montague and other big name weekly Texas country music acts performing throughout the year.

"Joe Jimmy's" of Neal's lodges also has weekly acoustic acts and activities for kids and is located nearby. There are several other activities in the area including bat tours, horseback riding, helicopter rides, golf tournaments, and much more for the family.

Concan is also known as a destination for conventions, parties, and weddings with the backdrop of the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Concan dining consists primarily of The House Pasture Cattle Company with steaks and seafood, small sandwich shops and vendors, and the historic Neal's Lodge which has been serving people since 1926.

The name "Concan" may have originated from the card game Conquian
