Overview

Coon Rapids High School is located near the Mississippi River 15 miles north of Minneapolis. The city of Coon Rapids boasts 70,000 residents and is still growing. The school offers advance placement, honors, and standard courses.

Preschool program

The school has a preschool, run by the Anoka-Hennepin Community Education Department, that enrolls 3, 4 and 5 year-olds. This program is known as the school readiness program where kids have large group activities, and different learning centers like blocks, computers, games, and art.

Athletics, Music,and Activities

Coon Rapids High School has a wide variety of seasonal sports that students in which students can get, such as:


Fall

Girls' tennis, girls' swimming and diving, soccer, football, cross country running, volleyball, and marching band.


Winter

Alpine skiing, hockey, gymnastics, basketball, Nordic skiing, boys' swimming and diving, and wrestling.


Spring

Baseball, boys' tennis, track and field, and lacrosse.


All Year

Dance, weight training, and cheerleading.



The school sponsors many activities that students in which students can become involved, including: Cardinal Image (school store) management, choir, orchestra, band, drum-line, debate, speech, Amnesty International, marching band, drama club, step drill team, fine arts, Link Crew, robotics team, student council, and winter color-guard. Coon Rapids High School has seen great success in various competitions since its inception.

The school offers a special education program, a student work program, peer mediation, student clubs, national honor society, Advanced Placement classes and honors courses, student elective classes, and school within a school alternative program.

Link Crew

Also known as 'Students Helping Students'. Link Crew is a program that has members of the Senior class offer help and advise to the new Freshmen. They meet with the Freshmen almost every Wednesday to answer any questions that they may have.
