 (Beth Faine). Other cheerleading opportunities are offered. The football team has won 2 state championships while the basketball team had several state playoff appearances, many under legendary head coach, Larry Bing. On December 5, 2008, the basketball court was named for Coach Manus.

Athletic playoffs are becoming part of the routine at Coosa High School. Last season it was the cheerleaders, basketball teams, tennis, track, and academic teams which went on to post season play, this season something remarkable has happened. Every fall sport team has made it to the state playoffs; softball, cross country, football, and competition cheerleading all advanced to the next level of play. "I personally believe it is a result of hard work and perseverance of our coaches and athletes" replied Coach Chad Perry, the Coosa High Athletic director. Principal Trevor Hubbard stated "It's really a tribute to our coaches, athletes, and community that we've had such a wide range of success this fall. I'm very proud of what our student-athletes have accomplished."

Academics

The school also has literary/academic teams. The Academic Decathlon team has won 15 of the last 19 Floyd County Championships. The Academic team also continues to compete in the High Q competition. They have won 2 of the last 4 High Q matches.

The Eagles have won the Governor's Cup for the most improved SAT scores in the state and region. Coosa has also been named a Georgia School of Excellence. This year (2010) Coosa had the highest SAT scores in Floyd County and the third highest scores in the state.
