, the city has a total area of 3.2 square miles (8.3 km²), of which 3.2 square miles (8.3 km²) is land and 0.04 square mile (0.1035995244 km²) (0.93%) is water.
The city of Corning went through a massive period of growth in the early part of the 20th century.
In the 1960s and 1970s it was the site of many industrial manufacturing developments.
Currently CHS has Mens football, track, basketball, golf, baseball, and trap shooting
girls programs include, basketball, softball, track, and golf.
The Corning High School football program was once a place of dominance. Having going undefeated in 2007 and making it to the 2nd round of the state playoffs. It has fallen off after that year and struggled to a 1-29 record in the past three years. But with first year coach Chuck Speer the program is getting back on its feet.
Its main rival is Piggott,Arkansas. These two schools have developed a fierce rivalry in all sports.
But there has been a large movement to developing a rivalry with Hoxie, Arkansas and Earl, Arkansas.
It has many programs that include, Art, Band, Spanish, Computer tech, and Family and Consumer sciences along with the other basic classes that public schools provide.

In the city the population was spread out with 23.3% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 22.0% from 45 to 64, and 19.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 88.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 82.5 males.

History
Corning was incorporated in 1877.The city of Corning went through a massive period of growth in the early part of the 20th century.
