in September 2001. In 2005, it became a member of the Specialist Schools Most Improved Schools’ Club for the second occasion. The school was also awarded a School Achievement Award in 2003 and a recognition for the Healthy Schools Scheme.
The school is oversubscribed every year, and currently has a roll
of around 900 to 1000 pupils attending the secondary school. In a recent OFSTED inspection in November 2006, the school achieved an overall Grade 2 (Good). Also in the same month, the RE OFSTED had awarded them a Grade 1 (Outstanding).
, the school will commence actions to improve the school with new features among replacement of refurbishing the school in 2009. The school will fully be refurbished approximately in 2013. Improvements will bring refreshment of the 21st century to modernise the school and to introduce a possible increase enrollment of pupils.

Credit systems
The school awards its pupils by a number of ways such as:- Attendance Draws which involve pupils with 95 - 99.9% and 100% to be automatically entered into two draws of either the 95 - 99.9% or the 100%. Each month whoever is selected out of the draw wins a £100 retail shop voucher.
- Attendance Awards which involve pupils with 100% attendance to be awarded with a £200 retail shop voucher.
- 'Going for Gold' scheme where certificates are awarded to pupils every half term with either 95 - 99.9% green certificate or 100% gold certificate with a same coloured sticker matching those certificates. Also a punctuality certificate in purple is awarded to pupils as well.

is available for those with 95% or more in attendance. - House Points in Key Stage 3 and Credits in Key Stage 4 are awarded when a pupil does well in a class or for any other reason to achieve a House Point or Credit. When a certain amount is achieved, pupils get awarded with vouchers and certificates.
School uniform
From September 2007, the school reintroduced the school blazer as part of its formal uniform. This replaced the main grey school jumper which had been previously used before the blazers. The blazers are of black colour with the school badge on the left side attached to a pocket. The blazers are available for male and female pupils. However, the teachers do not have to wear the school blazers, instead the teachers wear formal clothing. The school uniform represents an image of the school and is required for all pupils to wear at all times during school periods. From September 2008, the school will introduce a new set of sports clothing for both male and female pupils for Physical Education.Building Schools for the Future
