Corwen railway station in Denbighshire

, was formerly a station on the Ruabon to Barmouth line
. The first station to open was a temporary station at the east of the town when the line from Denbigh opened in October 1864. A permanent station was opened by the Great Western Railway in May 1865. It was to have closed to passengers on Monday 18 January 1965 but closed prematurely on 14 December 1964 due to flood damage. The station had two platforms, a signal box and was a passing place on the single line. According to the Official Handbook of Stations
the following classes of traffic were being handled at this station in 1956: G, P, F, L, H & C and there was a 1 ton 10 cwt crane.
Corwen was also formerly the southern terminus of the Denbigh, Ruthin and Corwen Railway which ran from Rhyl
to Corwen via Denbigh
and Ruthin
. It opened in 1864 and it was officially closed in 1963, although the line south of Ruthin was abandoned several years earlier after a landslide.
The preserved Llangollen Railway
have started work in 2011 on constructing an extension to Corwen. Initially a temporary station will be constructed on the outskirts of the town whilst new station is constructed in the town next to the main car park. The original station at the west end of the town adjacent to the A5 is currently in private use as an Ifor Williams Trailers
showroom.
