Cramer studied with William Hays at Westminster Choir College
and subsequently attended the Eastman School of Music
, where he studied with Russel Saunders and James Drake. He earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in organ performance and literature from Eastman in 1983, and also was awarded the Performer's Certificate in organ. He has studied additionally with David Boe
and André Marchal
. He has won several competitions, including the Fort Wayne International Organ Competition and the Alexander McCurdy Competition in Organ Performance.
Cramer recently oversaw the building and installation of the O'Malley Organ by Paul Fritts
(opus 24) in the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at the University of Notre Dame.
