In the village the population was spread out with 24.2% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 82.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.6 males.

History
One of the earliest mining communities in Williamson County. James M. Crain filed the first plat under the name of Crain City. However it incorporated as the village of Crainville on 28 June 1881. A post office opened 26 September 1888 also under the name Crainville. It discontinued operations 31 January 1914.
