lies to the east of town and Lake Stella is located to the west.

, the city has a total area of 2.1 square miles (5.4 km²). 1.8 square miles (4.7 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square mile (0.776996433 km²) of it (14.02%) is water. The city is located between two lakes, Lake Stella to the west and Lake Crescent to the east.

living together, 18.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 35.8% were non-families. 31.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.49 and the average family size was 3.12.
In the city the population was spread out with 27.4% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 21.6% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 22.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 86.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.8 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $22,500, and the median income for a family was $28,913. Males had a median income of $26,786 versus $15,887 for females. The per capita income
