(to the west). The name of the village is derived from Romanian
word "cucută", meaning hemlock
. The commune is composed of four villages: Băiceni, Bărbăteşti, Cucuteni and Săcăreşti.
This was the place where in 1884 were found some ancient artifacts and the culture that produced them took the name of the village, Cucuteni culture
