Cyprus International University was established in 1997, after a five year long preparation period; as a result of rising interest in higher educational institutions, teaching in English and after the increased need for universities which conduct their education in Foreign languages in Turkey, The Turkish Republic is Northern Cyprus and other countries in our vicinity starting from its first year. CIU successfully obtained the necessary equality certifications all of its faculties and departments and was immediately included in the official catalogue of The Turkish Centre of Student selection and placement (ÖSYM) by The Turkish Higher Education Board (YÖK).
Cyprus International University has now become a qualified serious and dependable centre of education which has also been provided with all the technological capabilities that the 21st century demands and develops its physical infrastructure and its means of research and teaching in order to give better education to its students.
The Cyprus International University now provides the same infrastructure, technological apparatus and physical opportunities with the best universities in Turkey.
The main educational aim at The Cyprus International University is to have graduates who are fluent in the English language, who are able to reach knowledge and harness it for the best purposes, who are capable of using the latest information and communication technologies and who have absorbed the necessary professional approaches.
Our students graduate from their respective department with the necessary knowledge, which will later on give them the opportunities to establish their own business initiatives and find jobs anywhere in the world in today's atmosphere of increased global competition. In order to achieve this, classes are held in small classrooms which gives the students the chance to participate in the active process of teaching and learning. The educational programme of our university is also very modern and supported by the state of the art computer technology.
Our campus life is very lovely and colourful with academic and cultural events organised by the students clubs. Many social and sportive activities are held regularly in our sports facilities.

As The Levent Group is active in sectors like industry, commerce, food, otomotive, construction, livestock production agriculture and tourism with its many companies; CIU is able to provide its students unlimited opportunities for internship respective of their departments. Cyprus International University was established in 1997. It was immediately recognised by YÖK (Turkish Higher Educational Board) and was included into the student selection and placement system by obtaining equality for all of its faculties and departments.
Cyprus International University which has been recognized by the ministries of education of countries like Pakistan, United Arab Emirates, Iran, Amman, Libya, Palestine and by many other countries in the region; has become an institution of learning, equipped with all the latest technological tools that are necessary for the requirements of 21’st century world. It is now a dependable, modern and centre of education.
The students of Cyprus International University are now able to continue their studies at any university of their own choice, anywhere in the world. Our students may also proceed with their studies at M.A. Hons and PhD. Hons levels of their chosen universities. Cyprus International University also has many agreements with many universities around the globe that enable academicians and students to participate in exchange programs.

Cyprus International University is a full member of institutions and organizations such as The Turkish Republic Higher Education Board(YÖK), The Turkish Republic of North Cyprus Board of Higher Education Planning, Accreditation and Coordination Board(YÖDAK), the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World(FUIW),The European Council for Business Education(ECBE), The Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Educational (CHRIE), The Association of International Educators(NAFSA), The European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR), The National Recognition Information Centre for The United Kingdom(UK NARIC), The European Association for International Education(EAIE),International Association of Universities(IAU) and Cyprus International University has now established itself an identity as a truly international university and is at present working hard to develop it even further.
However the University is not recognized as such by the legal authorities of the Republic of Cyprus nor has applied for such a recognition.

Cyprus International University is in the occupied area of the capital Nicosia area and is situated 5 km from the city center, 11 km from The Ercan State Airport, 50 km from the town of Famagusta and 30 km from the coastal town of Kyrenia.
