of Waukesha County

He was elected by the people of Waukesha County to serve as County Executive during a special election that was held on Tuesday, October 18, 2005. In this capacity, he is the chief executive officer of Waukesha County government where he administers approximately 1,400 employees and manages a $268 million annual budget.
During his as a State of Wisconsin Legislator, Dan served the 33rd Assembly District for fourteen years, beginning January 7, 1991. While in the legislature he was the Assembly’s Majority Caucus Chairman where he distinguished himself as an able and willing leader that worked effectively with both major political parties. Prior to leaving his position at the State Capitol, he served on these legislative committees:
• Joint Survey Committee on Retirement Systems (Assembly Chair)
• Higher Education Sub-Committee, State Building Commission (Chair)
• Assembly Committee on Labor (Vice-Chair and Past Chair)
• Assembly Committee on Rules
• Assembly Committee on Workforce Development
• Other Assembly leadership committees
Dan also undertook these legislative assignments during his tenure in the Assembly:
