Danish Architecture Centre (Danish
: Dansk Arkitektur Center), DAC, is a communication and development centre for architecture in Copenhagen

. It is located in Gammel Dok, a former warehouse from 1882 located on Strandgade in Christianshavn
, where it operates an exhibition space which puts on temporary exhibitions about architecture, urban planning and sustainable development.
It was founded in 1995 as a collaboration between the Danish Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs
and the Realdania foundation.
which had been established on a neighbouring site in 1739. The warehouse was extended with an extra floor around 1920. The building was acquired by the Danish state in 1979.

and the Realdania foundation. It moved into the Gammel Dok building after renovation and conversion work carried out by Erik Møllers Tegnestue

There are currently plans to move the centre to new and larger premises in a building to be built by Realdania on the so-called Bryghusgrunden site next to Christian IV's Brewhouse
on the other side of the harbour. The project has been designed by Rem Koolhaas

History
The Gammel Dok Warehouse was built in 1882 to the design of the architect H. C. Scharling. It takes its name from Gammel Dok, Denmark's first dry dockDry dock
