, Darrill Schoonover began training in submission wrestling, kick boxing, judo
and jiu jitsu
at the age of 17. At the age of 19, Schoonover joined the United States Army
. He attended Central Texas College
and put his history degree studies on hold in order to participate in The Ultimate Fighter. Shoonover was often made fun of during The Ultimate Fighter, by Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.
On the beginning of December 2009, Schoonover was called back to serve in active duty with the military but due to high blood pressure he was discharged.

. He defeated Jensen after applying a triangle choke
in the first round.
Schoonover was a notable target of Quinton Jackson
, who subjected him to much verbal abuse throughout the season. Jackson's creation and repeated use of the nickname, "Titties", eventually led to Schoonover challenging Jackson to a fight at 205 lb, amongst other heated confrontations.
In the quarterfinals, Schoonover was selected to fight the lone Team Rampage fighter, Marcus Jones and was defeated via knockout punch. He fought again in the UFC against James McSweeney
at The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights Finale
, and got his first professional loss via technical knockout. Schoonover is a Specialist in the United States Army, and returned to active duty following the fight with McSweeney. After arriving at Ft Benning to undergo the army physical he was found out to have high blood pressure and released from active duty and sent back to the Individual Ready Reserve

Heavyweight Championship on May 2, 2009. He was expected to fight with the organization and make his first title defence in November, 2011 against Bobby Lashley. However on October 21 it was announced he had injured his shoulder. He was then stripped of the Shark Fights Heavyweight Championship for unknown reasons.
